TOGAF stands fo open group architecture framework

Architecture framework is a precisely defines language for describing an architecture and has predefined building blocks for putting it together and the precise steps to follow.

Main purpose of TOGAF is to define the future state of enterprise and define the steps to reach that future state.

ADM (architecture development method) is the core of TOGAF

Why does a company need architecture?

Because it connects the long term strategy of enterprise to implementation. So that plan for implementations can be developed. It will done in phases though. Architects design the plan using the ADM process.

Idea is to align all parts of the business to the enterprise goals.
